About UsMicroVention is a rapidly growing medical device company that has pioneered the development of catheter-based, minimally invasive, neuroendovascular technologies that provide therapeutic advantages for cerebral aneurysms and other neurovascular diseases. The Company dedicates significant resources to support Research & Development, with an emphasis on innovative endovascular technologies that provide a meaningful improvement in patient lives.
The Company was founded and incorporated in 1997. MicroVention established the strategic objective of developing and marketing medical devices, which will enable or significantly improve the treatment of diseases in small blood vessels. After development of early concepts and prototypes of devices for the treatment of acute embolic stroke and embolization of cerebral aneurysms, the company narrowed its focus to aneurysm therapy, developing a line of implantable, detachable neuroendovascular coils. The MicroPlex® Coil System, a bare platinum coil, and the HydroCoil® Embolic System, a polymer gel-coated platinum coil, have evolved over the last ten years and we continue to expand those product lines with additional state-of-the-art technologies for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms.
In 2006, Japanese-based Terumo® Corporation acquired MicroVention to enhance its multi-disciplinary holdings of medical device companies in North America. With Terumo’s support, MicroVention has continued to operate autonomously, and has kept its ability to grow independently and quickly. MicroVention continues to lead the way in neuroendovascular therapies through continued introduction of new neuro-interventional products including access products, intraluminal stents, occlusion balloons, polymer coils and flow diverters, and is recognized as a market leader and clinical innovator. MicroVention also maintains important stroke device technology and intellectual property and continues to monitor the acute stroke therapy market as it is currently developing additional products for the stroke market. Today, with its commitment to developing and manufacturing the highest quality products for its customers and patients, MicroVention will continue to experience significant growth as it has done in the past, and will continue to do in the coming years.
